— by appointment only —
Tuesday Evening Consultation Appointments
To find out how to make an appointment with Tim and Nancy, make your inquiries at Evangelistic Temple It can be frightening and the cause of great sadness and/or anger for one experiencing a diagnosis of mental illness. It can be equally traumatic for family and/or friends learning that their loved one has a mental illness. It is important to know that it’s okay to feel this way and that you and your loved one are not alone. Many people from all walks of life have suffered from mental illness. There is help and there is hope for a better future. For those who are adult family and/or friends of those living with major depression or bipolar disorder, there are (by appointment only) Tuesday evening Family-To-Family Consultation Sessions available with Tim & Nancy Reside. The Resides have known the invading shock and distress of mental illness coming into their lives and equally into their life plans. They know how painful and disorienting this is. They know what it is to desperately look for help, answers and a reason to believe that things can be better. They remember all too well the feelings that went with wondering if anyone else knew what it was like to go through what they were going through. They wondered if others had survived — if so, how? Tim and Nancy make it clear that they do not offer themselves as clinicians. They are fellow "journeyers" who have survived great crisis, but today are experiencing the thriving blessings of recovery. They have been married since 1971. They are the proud parents of two adult children and equally the proud grandparents of three lovely grandchildren. Tim and Nancy have experienced a journey from survival to "thrival." These sessions are designed to encourage others that they too can survive. These sessions are designed to be non-threatening, informative, educational, and open to questions. Tim and Nancy also offer to meet with the "care-giving" family members and/or friends and the "care-receiver" at the same time. They know from experience that communication lines can be greatly stretched during at times of distress, confusion and/or frustration. They offer help in how to better communicate. Questions most often asked:
Professionally, Tim and Nancy’s training and experience have been in "pastoral care" ministry for over three decades. Tim holds a M.A. in Practical Theology from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While Tim and Nancy are not themselves clinicians, it has been noted by both professional clinicians and ministers that time spent with them can be beneficially "therapeutic." In addition to providing an empathetic listening ear and practical advice, they offer "connective link" information that assists families and friends in discovering available resources. In order to keep cost for this service from being prohibitive, Tim and Nancy do not require the payment of a fee; however, they do gratefully accept donations for which a tax-deductible receipt can be received. Thank you for your inquiry. If you have further inquiries and/or need more specific location directions, feel free to call 918.744.5761 and/or email the President of Bright Tomorrows, Tim Reside, at treside@brighttomorrows.org. |
