It can be frightening and the cause of great sadness and/or anger for one experiencing a diagnosis of mental illness. It can be equally traumatic for family and/or friends learning that their loved one has a mental illness. It is important to know that it’s okay to feel this way and that you and your loved one are not alone. Many people from all walks of life have suffered from mental illness. There is help and there is hope for a better future.

For those who are the adult family and/or friends of those living with unipolar depression or bipolar disorder, there are two consultation service options offered by Tim and Nancy Reside. First there is a welcome to A Monthly Educational Series for Caregivers & Support Group Participants conducted by Tim and Nancy that offers information, education together with question and answer dialogue opportunities. See "About Us" Page

Secondly, by-appointment-only, Tim Reside offers person-to-person and/or person-to-family consultation sessions. These sessions can be with family and/or friend caregivers, as well as with the individuals struggling with these health challenges. These are not clinical sessions but rather sessions with a couple who have had decades of significant life experience personally processing these life challenges and assisting others.

Tim and Nancy have known the invading shock and distress of mental illness coming into their lives and life plans. They know how painful and disorienting this is. They know what it is to desperately look for help, answers and a reason to believe that things can be better. They remember all too well the feelings that went with wondering if anyone else knew what it was like to go through what they were going through. They wondered if others had survived — if so, how?

Tim makes it clear that he and Nancy do not offer themselves as clinicians. They are fellow "journeyers" who have survived great crisis, but today are experiencing the thriving blessings of embracing healing-recovery as a lifestyle. They have been married since 1971. They are the proud parents of two adult children and equally the proud grandparents of three lovely grandchildren.

Professionally, Tim has completed 108 credit hours of study in Practical Theology, inclusive of 36 hours at the doctoral level, and holds an M.A. in Practical Theology.

While Tim and Nancy are not themselves clinicians, it has been noted by both professional clinicians and ministers that time spent with them can be beneficially "therapeutic." In addition to providing an empathetic listening ear and practical advice, they offer "connective link" information that assists families and friends in discovering available resources. In order to keep cost for this service from being prohibitive, Tim and Nancy do not require the payment of a fee; however, they do gratefully accept donations for which a tax-deductible receipt can be received.
