How does the Bright Tomorrows Speakers Bureau work?

If your church or faith community has a need for some aspect of mental health education or wants to better support those disabled by mental illness in your congregation, Bright Tomorrows would like the opportunity to come and speak over a lunch hour at your convenience, free of charge. (Donations of support are welcomed).

Michael W. Brose received his BA in social work from Oral Roberts University in 1979. He received his MSW from the University of Kansas in 1980. Since that time, he has been in the practice of social work in medical and mental health settings in both the public and private sectors. Mr. Brose's practice has included work with children and adolescents, individuals with severe physical illnesses, the elderly, and the severely mentally ill. He has done extensive consulting with schools and businesses in the aftermath of critical incidents.

Mr. Brose has practiced individual, group, and family therapy in his clinical practice, utilizing family systems as his primary theoretical frame-of-reference. Currently, he is the Executive Director of the Mental Health Association of Tulsa where he is involved in advocacy work and public policy issues as they impact people affected by mental illness.




James W. Grinnell (Jim) received his BA in Religious Studies from St. Lawrence University in 1978. In 1985, he received his Master of Divinity Degree from Oral Roberts University, and in 1992 obtained a second Master's Degree in Family Relations from Oklahoma State University. Jim is a pastor at Tulsa Christian Fellowship and a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist. He is the President of Bright Tomorrows Fellowship, Inc., a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.




Stuart Holderness obtained his undergraduate degrees in Theology and Psychology from Oral Roberts University in 1983. He earned his Master's of Science in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern State University in 1989. He subsequently completed the Postgraduate Training Program in Marital & Family Therapy at Christian Family Institute (CFI). In 1997, Stuart completed his Ph.D. at Oklahoma State University. Stuart is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marital & Family Therapist as well as a Certified Drug Counselor in the state of Oklahoma.

Stuart brings a variety of experience to his CFI practice. He has worked extensively in church education with children, youth, and adults, including teaching, administration and student relations, preparing him to provide supervision to trainees in marital and family therapy. Stuart has written a resource booklet designed for parents on Attention Deficit Disorder. He provides individual, marital and family psychotherapy, and is also involved in group therapy, teaching and public speaking.

Additionally Dr. Holderness specializes in marital relationships, ADHD/ ADD, depression, adolescent concerns, childhood issues, substance abuse, sexual addiction, men's issues, parent-child relations, anxiety, adjustment and crisis.



Timothy K. Peterson has his master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern State University and completed a two-year post graduate program in Marriage & Family Therapy through the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry and Mental Health Sciences. Tim has provided Christ-centered counseling in Tulsa since 1985; in private practice and as a program director for psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment programs at three local hospitals. He was the founding director of Rapha in Tulsa, a position he held from 1993-2001.

He is a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor. He currently works at Laureate Clinic where he specializes in the treatment of anxiety and depression in addition to marital counseling. In addition to his duties on the Board of Bright Tomorrows, Tim also serves on the Executive Board of the Mental Health Association in Tulsa and on the local and regional boards of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies. Tim and his wife Diane have been married since 1982 and have three sons.




Rev. Tim Reside is the Executive Director of Bright Tomorrows. Tim has been active in church related ministry and pastoral care work since 1968. Immediately prior to his work with Bright Tomorrows he served as an Associate Minister at Evangelistic Temple in Tulsa, Oklahoma for 16 years. He has been married to Nancy, the love of his life, since 1971 and together they have two wonderful married adult children and two beloved grandchildren.

Tim holds a M.A. in Practical Theology and is currently a doctoral candidate in the Doctor of Ministry program at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is there continuing to advance himself in means and methods by which to better bring help, hope and healing recovery to men, women and families dealing with crisis, grief, loss and/or mental health concerns.

Tim is diagnosed with bipolar disorder and has successfully coped with this challenge since 1979. Tim is known for sharing a clear message of hope and inspiration in the face of mental illness.




Barbara Schneeberg graduated from Southern Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management of Human Resources and an award winning thesis on Ministry with Persons with Mental Illness, their Families and Friends. She also holds a Masters Degree in Spirituality from Phillips Theological Seminary.

Barbara has been a mental illness advocate for two decades on a local and national level. She worked under grant with the Oklahoma Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church to direct a Local Church Mental Illness Network. She was the past Director of the Mental Illness Ministry at First United Methodist Church in Tulsa, known as Second MILE Outreach (Mental Illness, a Loving Embrace), which was published in three national journals. She has been a certified lay minister, a trainer for the Journey of Hope Education and Support Group Program, a grief facilitator, a national workshop presenter, a paraprofessional counselor, and a conference planner and organizer.

Currently, as an “integration specialist,” Barbara facilitates Workshops and Retreats. She is a Commissioned Presenter for Contemplative Outreach, Ltd., and a Lay Contemplative / Benedictine Oblate. Her favorite things are: Grandparenting, gardening, engaging sunrises and sunsets, and collecting studies supporting the notion about chocolate being good for us.
