Christian Depression and Bipolar Support Group

Bright Tomorrows offers an adult Christian Depression and Bipolar Support Group to men and women who: (1) have been diagnosed with major (clinical) depression or a bipolar disorder; (2) have a current medical, clinical and/or therapeutic care connection; and (3) are current with their medications. This is a group created for mutual sharing and caring. Tim and Nancy Reside, who have been dealing with a bipolar disorder in their own home since 1979, are the teachers and co-facilitators.

This is a "closed group" designed for only those who are personally dealing with diagnosed depression or bipolar disorder. There is one exception made to the "closed group" policy. The first Thursday of each month is open to the family and friends of participants and caregivers, as well as to the general public. All are invited on that evening to participate in Bright Tomorrow’s educational series: How To Survive & Overcome Depression and Bipolar Disorders.

Scriptural encouragement and prayer are a part of the weekly support group meeting. This faith-affirming approach to mutual support is joined together with an ongoing quest to discover and implement practical self-monitoring and self-managing strategies for the advancing of recovery and the optimizing of health.

A "support group meeting" is not a "clinical group therapy session." While there may be therapeutic benefit for participants in support groups, and while observation seems to support the suggestion that those who participate in support programs tend toward better monitoring and managing of recovery than those who do not, the support group meeting is neither a clinically supervised nor clinically facilitated meeting.

Thank you for your inquiry. If you have further inquiries and/or need more specific location directions, feel free to call 918.744.5761 and/or email the Executive Director, Tim Reside, at treside@brighttomorrows.org.
